Swedish Chokladbollar
A beloved no-bake Swedish delicacy, these chocolate oat balls are simple to prepare and offer a delightful blend of rich cocoa, coffee, and a touch of vanilla. Rolled in coconut flakes, they are a perfect companion for a traditional fika.
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the regular rolled oats, white sugar, and unsweetened cocoa powder. Mix thoroughly to ensure all dry ingredients are well distributed.
- Add the softened unsalted butter, melted unsweetened baking chocolate, strong coffee, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture.
- Using your hands or a sturdy spoon, mix all ingredients together until a uniform, sticky dough forms. Ensure there are no dry spots remaining.
- Place the ⅓ cup of coconut flakes in a shallow dish or plate.
- Take small portions of the chocolate mixture (about 1 tablespoon each) and roll them between your palms to form smooth, bite-sized balls.
- Roll each chocolate ball in the coconut flakes, pressing gently to coat evenly.
- Arrange the coated chokladbollar on a plate or baking sheet.
- Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow them to firm up before serving. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
